I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
—Ephesians 1:17
Did you know that God desires for you to know everything about Him? That's right! God is not withholding vital information about Himself and He is not trying to keep parts of Himself a mystery. Since the beginning of time, God has been in the business of revealing everything about Himself. He wants you to know who He is, what He thinks and how He feels. Why? Because He loves you and He wants you to love Him in the same manner.
Paul continually prayed that we would receive power from the Spirit of God so that we might "know" the Father better. This word "know" implies a closeness or coming together that goes beyond a casual experience. It carries with it the implication of a deeper relationship—one that requires intimacy. The Greek word used for "know" is the word epignôsis, which means to have precise and correct knowledge of someone. This type of "knowing" can only be derived from close inspection, interaction or contact.
To get a deeper understanding of this "knowing" God desires us to have with Him, let's look at His choice of wording in the Hebrew language. The Hebrew word yada` would correspond with the Greek word epignôsis. The word yada` not only means to know or to be acquainted with, but also to make oneself known. Interestingly, this word implies that the type of "knowing" God desires isn't one-sided. It is an interaction between two parties in which vulnerability plays a vital part.
We see this interaction and vulnerability displayed in the words used in Genesis chapter four. Scripture says that Adam "knew" Eve and that as a result, she gave birth to their son Cain. God wishes that you would know Him as intimately as Adam knew Eve. He desires that you know Him as a husband knows his wife. God doesn't want you to just know about Him. He wants you to experience everything about Him for yourself. He wants you to "know" Him.
This knowing Him or experiencing Him will do more than produce a memory. These precious times will create something new in you. On each and every occasion that you enter into a "knowing" time with the Lord, you will leave carrying something holy and new—just like Eve did when she left Adam. As you "know" God, He will impregnate you with vision and destiny. If you'll carry these precious deposits to full term, you will give birth to wonderful and miraculous things.
God longs to be intimate with you. He desires to spend personal time with you. It is in these secret places that God makes Himself vulnerable with us. Here in seclusion, He makes contact with us and we make contact with Him. It is in these moments that we experience Him in ways that it seems no one else ever has. Destinies and callings are conceived in times like these. He's waiting on you and He's calling you. Won't you put everything aside and enter into the chambers of the secret place? Won't you take the time to "know" God fully, even as you are fully known?

Concept Reinforcement
…and Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
—Genesis 4:1
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
—Psalm 91:1
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.
