Who we are

Camp Chara is an organization of Bible-believers with a burden to reach the youth of Uganda with the Gospel message; that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, humbled Himself to the point of a human coming to Earth by being born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, fulfilling God’s law, suffered and died on a cross, bearing the sins of the world, taking our penalty on Himself, rising again after three days, proving He has power over sin and death! This promise is an invitation being extended for ALL who through faith, believe and trust in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
We believe there is true JOY and PEACE in walking in the truth of the Holy Word of God; that purpose and abundant LIFE comes from knowing Jesus as your personal Savior and friend.
At Camp Chara we are committed to sharing the truth of God’s word with as many people as we can. We do this through taking a day, a weekend, a full week or even an hour, to get away from the distractions of this busy life and focusing completely on God and His word.
This world is becoming more and more consumed with technology, work, school and other daily tasks that can cause us to completely forget about our Creator and Savior, as well as our purpose in living. Camp Chara seeks to be a safe place of refreshment and rejuvenation. A place of calmness and as little distraction as possible. A physical place to “run to” when overwhelmed by everything happening around you.
Our prayer is that all who step place on our property or within our events will see all of the good and beautiful things, and the JOY of each staff member will be a direct reflection that instantly moves you to glorify our wonderful Father in Heaven!

Core Values

  • The Bible is our foundation for everything: all that we do must have a biblical purpose.

It is so important that we handle the Word of God carefully, and correctly

2nd Timothy 2:15 / Matthew 4:4 / Psalm 12:6 / Revelation 22:19 / 2nd Timothy 3:16-17

  • Live the Bible

Because everything we do is based on the Holy, perfect, true, Word of God, we as leaders must live what we are teaching. We study it, believe it, and apply it to every aspect of life.

Colossians 3:16 / Ephesians 6:17 / Hebrews 4:12 / Isaiah 55:11 / James 1:21-23 / Luke 11:28

  • Serve

In serving the ultimate servant, Jesus Christ, we lovingly care for and help one another, campers and staff, in any way we can. Denying our own selves and using the gift of ministering that God has given to us.

Philippians 2:3-8 / 1st Peter 4:9-10 / 1st Samuel 12:24 / Mark 10:45 / Matthew 25:35-40

  • Build Relationships

We follow Jesus Christs example of discipleship and friendship by taking time to invest in and valuing relationships with campers and other staff members.

1 John 1:3-7 / Hebrews 10:24-25

  • Rely on God

We rely on God by allowing Him to direct our steps today and in the future. We walk by faith, and trust in Him to do all the work and provide all that we need to do His will. Recognize that God does not need us to help Him work, He simply invites us to join Him where He is already working.

2nd Corinthians 5:7 / Job 2:9 / Ephesians 2:8-10 / Proverbs 3:5-7 / Psalm 37:4

  • Continue to Grow

We steward our God-given resources to continually improve on everything we do. Allowing God to grow ourselves, the campers, and fellow leaders is so important in a camp setting. We share the truth in a distraction-free environment conducive to spiritual growth. We ask God to produce lasting spiritual change in people’s lives.

Colossians 3:23 / 1st Corinthians 3:6-9 / Romans 12:1-2
